Ordering Deadlines
Custom Cake Notice & Lead Times
To maintain our quality standards, we require at least 14 days' notice for all custom cake orders. Orders placed with less than 14 days' notice are subject to a $25 rush fee, provided our baking schedule has availability. We recommend booking 4–6 weeks in advance for weekend dates. Please call for availability if notice is less than 14 days.
Deposits & Retainers
Payment & Booking Policy
Dates are not held or secured without payment. For orders under $200, full payment is required at the time of booking. For orders over $200, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date on our calendar. The remaining 50% balance must be paid in full 7 days prior to your event date. Failure to pay the balance by the deadline will result in the immediate cancellation of your order and forfeiture of your deposit.Design & Size Changes
We are happy to accommodate changes to your cake’s size, flavor, or design theme up to 14 days prior to your event date.
Decreasing Size: You may reduce your cake size up to 14 days before the event, but your total price will not drop below the amount of your initial 50% non-refundable retainer.
Last-Minute Requests: Any change requested less than 7 days before the event will be automatically denied. At this stage, your custom structure has been finalized, ingredients have been purchased, and prep work has begun.
Refunds & Cancellations
Cancellation & Refund Policy
We understand that plans change! If you need to cancel your order:
Cancellations made 14+ days before the event: You will receive a refund of any amount paid beyond the 50% non-refundable retainer. The retainer itself is not refundable because it covers lost booking opportunities and administrative time.
Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event: No refunds or credits will be issued under any circumstances, because ingredients have already been purchased and prep work has begun.
1. Cake Delivery & Liability
Delivery, Meetups & Transport Liability
To protect the privacy of our home kitchen, we do not offer pickup at our home address. All orders are fulfilled via hand delivery or a scheduled meetup at a prearranged public location. Once the cake is successfully handed over to you at the delivery or meetup location, we are no longer responsible for any damage that occurs during your drive home or during event setup. Please ensure your vehicle has a flat, level surface (such as the floorboard, not a sloped car seat) and a working air conditioner set to high. Keep the cake completely out of direct heat and sunlight.
Late Arrivals & Punctuality for Meetups
Because we operate on a strict production and delivery schedule, we offer a 15-minute grace period for all scheduled meetups. If you are running more than 15 minutes late, you must notify us immediately. If we are unable to wait due to other scheduled deliveries, your delivery will need to be rescheduled for a later time or the following day, subject to a $25 rescheduling fee.Abandoned Orders & Liability Release
If an order is missed due to a client's late arrival, failure to appear at the scheduled meetup, or refusal to coordinate a rescheduled delivery time within 24 hours of the original event date, the order will be considered permanently abandoned.Because custom baked goods are perishable and cannot be resold, no refunds, credits, or transfers will be issued for abandoned orders under any circumstances.
Furthermore, the client explicitly releases Mimi’s Sweet Treats from any financial liability, claims of damage, or loss resulting from a missed or delayed delivery caused by the client’s failure to adhere to the scheduled meetup timeline. The client retains full responsibility for the total cost of the order.
2. Design & Color Expectations
Design & Color Variations
While we love inspiration photos, we do not create exact replicas of other artists' work. Colors can look different on phone and computer screens than they do in mixing bowls. We will do our absolute best to match your color palette, but minor shade variations may occur.
3. Dietary Restrictions & Allergies
Allergen Disclaimer
Our products are baked in a kitchen that handles wheat, nuts, dairy, and eggs. Although we take every precaution to prevent cross-contamination in specialty orders, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. Clients are responsible for informing their guests about potential allergens.
